John Bell marked a huge landmark both for himself and for the company when he clocked up 50 years’ service with Icon Polymer in April.

He joined Icon – then Northern Rubber – on 16th April 1958, working in the Goods Inward department. Eighteen months later he moved into the Extruding department and he has been there ever since, working on a range of products including billiard table cushions and vacuum cleaner belts.

As well as John’s impressive total, his 2 brothers have worked at Icon for over 70 years – giving an impressive family total of 120 years.

Managing director Tim Pryce said: “John has seen many changes to the business over the last 50 years as manufacturing processes have changed and new processes and products have been introduced to meet customer demand. It is a testimony to the loyalty of employees such as John and his family and to the management at Icon that the business is still thriving in the community and has excellent future prospects.”
